It's time for a little 5 Question Friday - on Sunday!
1. What is the weather like where you are and do you like it?
The weather here in January is usually cold and gray and ugly. But this year... it's weird. It's sunny outside today. It was yesterday too. And it's mild. It got into the 50's here this week. Of course, it was also in the 20's. But I'll take it! We've had practically NO SNOW. We've about 2 dustings. Not really enough to even coat the grass. I do like a good snow day - but other than that, I'm over snow and winter. I'd be just fine if it started warming up. I'm NOT a cold weather person!
2. When you're sick what do you seek comfort from?
My bed and my tv! When I was little, my Mom would put a sheet on the couch and I'd bring my pillow and lay there watching tv. Now I stay in bed. And since D has entered our lives, the sick person is usually quarantined in the bedroom. No germs allowed in the rest of the house.
Ok - so am I the only one that sometimes dreams of a little illness just to get some rest? Nothing serious... but just something that forces me to stay in my room and in bed for a day or so. Imagine all the sleep I could get.... And I'd have some alone time... Ahhhhh..... that sounds SO NICE! I'm so tired that I'd take strep just to get some sleep and rest. That's just wrong. But such is the life of a D Mama...
3. What do you need to do before the end of the month?
A better question might be what do I need to do before the end of the WEEK! This week is nuts for us. I have something every night after school or in the evening. Sometimes there are two things. Busy, busy, busy!
But by the end of the month, I for sure need to order the supplies to make Valentine's for Sweetpea's class and my class. I also need to get her Valentine shirts made. And probably a bow or two to go with them. And I need to get the magnet boards I made for her room (so she would stop taping things to the wall) mounted. I also need to decide on a date for her birthday party and schedule that. I may paint the inlay of the pantry door with chalkboard paint (shhh... don't tell J. I haven't mentioned this to him...). I may be making teacher gifts for Valentine's day - and if so I need to get on that, too.
And that's just at home... I've a million and one things to do at school. LOTS of lesson planning to do! With the addition of Pinterest to my life, I've found so many cute and wonderful ideas to do with my kids! I've really got to put some thought into our winter units of study!
4. Have you ever served on a jury?
No. I got a letter once. But it was for the first week of school. So I didn't have to go. I think it would be kinda fun though. However, now I've got other issues to deal with. Mainly, because I do all the D care at school and no one else knows how to bolus for meals - if I don't go, she doesn't go. So I don't miss school. I know this is not ideal. But we don't have a nurse. We have one that is in and out. And that just makes me nervous. Even with info sheets out the yang, no one else really knows what to do. They are scared. I get that. I just don't know what to do about it.
5. If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?
I'd be a cat. I love my cats. (Most of the time) I look at them and think - Wow. They sure have the life. They lay around all day long. One is always snuggled up on the couch. And as soon as I sit down, one is in my lap wanting to be loved on. They seem well rested. I am envious.
I think being something that flies would be cool, too. Maybe a bird. A butterfly is pretty but I think they die really fast. Maybe a fruit bat. I'm a night person so being nocturnal might be fun... I don't know. Let's get real - my mind is always so full of bg numbers and carb ratios and basal rates and all kinds of other things like home and family and work that I don't have time to sit and ponder something like this for any length of time. Does that sound rude? Sorry - I'm tired! So, seeing as though I have a kitty curled up on the floor - asleep - next to me right now - I'm going with cat! Lucky ducks.
Ok - it's your turn! Is anyone else as tired as I seem to be?!?
