Stop Diabetes

Monday, November 1, 2010

It's November!  Do you know what that means??

It means many things around here...

It means that TODAY is the FIRST DAY of NaBloPoMo.

Yes, folks, I have signed up for NaBloPoMo.  Much to the hubby's dismay as he thinks I need to add nothing to my plate.  After all, it DOES mean that I will be blogging EVERY. SINGLE. DAY in November!  Am I crazy or what?  But I just couldn't resist....  because....

Diabetes doesn't take a day off either.  AND....

NOVEMBER is DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH!

And it's official!  President Obama signed a proclamation on October 29, 2010.  Click HERE to read the whole thing.  But this is the part that gets me all teary eyed...

THEREFORE, I, BARACK OBAMA, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim November 2010 as National Diabetes Month. I call upon all Americans, school systems, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, health care providers, and research institutions to join in activities that raise diabetes awareness and help prevent, treat, and manage the disease.
So, expect my usual AND a few posts highlighting all that's going on this month to further the cause.

Here's one of my favorites brought to you by the ADA...

Stop Diabetes® is the American Diabetes Association’s movement to end the devastating toll that diabetes takes on the lives of millions of individuals across our nation. Its goal is to inspire and mobilize the general public, volunteers, donors, corporations and the scientific and medical communities to rally around our cause and our call to "share, act, learn and give."
Through these actions, millions will have the chance to get involved and help raise awareness, promote healthy living and raise money to fund educational outreach, advocacy efforts and critical research that will ultimately stop diabetes once and for all.

Stop Diabetes - click to find out how YOU can share, act, learn, and give.  It's as easy as a click.
And you've GOT to watch this PSA...  It is perfect!

And speaking of Mr. Bret Michaels.... his new show "Life As I Know It" airs Monday nights at 10pm (EST) on VH1.  This week's episode features Bret visiting children with diabetes at Phoenix Children's Hospital!  Click HERE for sneak peek!  Or just tune in tonight and watch it for yourself.  And you REALLY want to... because you just may see a D Mama blogger that we all know and love!  (No, it's not me - but I am uber jealous!).  I'll tell you who it is tomorrow... I don't want to steal her thunder!

Other Bloggers Participating in NaBloPoMo:

* You'll find these bloggers in a blog roll to the right.  Let me know if I left you out! *

Stop by and show 'em some D Mama (or Papa or PWD) Love!
